Luge

Since when did the luge become so dangerous? I don't remember these kind of injuries (and even a death this weekend) in any previous Olympics. It always seemed kind of crazy and the G-Force has to be incredible, but I don't remember seeing these guys get thrown around the way they have been in these initial runs. Crazy.

Speaking of luging, I long for the days of the Peterville Olympics of the early and mid-90s. We used to have individual events - bobsledding, luging, x-country skiing, sled jumping; and then team events like hockey, over 2 days either during February vacation or over Christmas. And peppered in there would be some amazing breakfasts cooked by Doc and Mrs. P and consisting of swedish pancakes, eggs friend in bacon grease, and gallons of hot cocoa. Those were the days.

Bob Costas

You ever wonder why Bob Costas isn't utilized more by NBC? Seems like, outside of his HBO show, he's used once every 2 years for Olympic coverage. This man is probably the greatest living sports commentator (not to mention the fact that he should be MLB Commissioner) and you can only hear him/see him if you can afford HBO and if you can't, only in even-numbered years for 2-3 weeks. WTF??? I guess I shouldn't be surprised though. NBC is the network that gave Conan O'Brien The Tonight Show, then took it away 7 months later to give it to someone who isn't funny. This is the network that turned down CSI before CBS green-lighted it. This is the network that brought back Chuck after cancellation.

SNOMG/SNOPOCALYPSE/SNOWMAGGEDON/SNOSTFU

So, we got buried with about 30 inches of snow over the course of Friday & Saturday. Cabin fever has definitely hit us. I've actually turned to writing in this blog which I haven't written for in the better part of a year!

Dianne and I started the weekend by watching The Shining, which probably wasn't the best idea we've ever had. I was worried she'd take her cue from Jack Nicholson and turn into an ax-wielding psychopath. But she's still my wife and hasn't quite turned to weapons yet (aside from an evil eye thrown at me from time to time).

We haven't done much other than watch movies (good and bad), eat bad food, and walk the dog through the knee and hip-high snow. Bayley loves the snow, although I still don't think he understands that's not threatening to him.

Watching Superbowl and eating pizza and 7 layer nacho dip now. More later....

THE BOOGEYMAN IS BACK!!!

Well, it's been about 2 years since I posted on this blog. Hopefully, this time around will be more regular.

Dianne inspired me to do a blog, although since she's off for the summer, she'll probably have more time to post than I will.

I will try to update as much as possible from here out.

Stay tuned, my loyal readers.
